just an old-fashioned girl

Hello and welcome. I'm glad you dropped by. If you´re looking for something a little nostalgic of bygone eras with a timeless elegance and a little modern twist – in other words, something slightly “retro” – then you should feel right at home here in my shabby chic room. Month by month, there will always be something new to see so I hope you´ll enjoy your stay and come back again soon.

Computer Disaster

My computer was infected with a particularly nasty virus. When I finally got it back I discovered that the damage was even worse than I´d imagined. Every single folder has gone. Every image. Every document. My entire scrapbook has gone including a kit I was working on. I´ve very little left after years of designing apart from what I´ve got at 4Shared or saved on a DVD. Not so much as a brush or a style was spared. All my programmes will have to be reinstalled. I´m having trouble reinstalling PS as the installation disc refuses to recognise the fact that it isn´t there any more and keeps coming up with an error message. It´s a nightmare and I don´t know if I´ll ever have the heart to start designing again from scratch as I´ve lost literally years of work. I´ll eventually get all my kits into the store. Maybe by then I´ll have recovered from this disaster.

  1. Oh Helen, I am so sorry this happened to you. I wondered why you were so quiet lately, now I know why. I feel for you... I know what it is like to have my computer infected. I think we have all been there at one time or another. Call whom ever you had work on the computer and see if they can remotely connect to your computer and see why you can't install your software. Take it one step at a time, it's like cleaning the house, one room at a time isn't as bad as looking at all that needs to be done. I'm so sorry this happened.

  2. Helen,
I am so sorry this has happened! I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through. I remember the disaster when our first PC went belly up, but I didn't have anywhere near the "stuff" then as now.

  3. Yikes! Helen, so sorry this has happened, I think it is a fear we all have of opening the computer one day and nothing, I know it has happened to me, but I was lucky as I work of 2 different drives and only one was infected. Dont' forget that I would probably have the majority of your kits, we have been together for a while now, if you need any sent to help with the store, let me know.

  4. So sorry to hear about this...I have been out of town with DD whose baby was born 6 weeks early. Both are improving with each day. I so hope that with some time to recover from the initial shock you are feeling better and more hopeful to dive in and start designing again. I know you have it in you to accept the challenge this disaster has presented...after all it is a large part of your life. Looking forward to seeing what all you design in the days to come!
