It´s been a while since I designed a
new kit, so long in fact that I was beginning to think that Nostalgic
Scrapbook was my swansong. Being in constant pain isn´t exactly
conducive to creativity and the sudden death of a family member
lowered my spirits even further. However, just recently I´ve been
having osteopathic treatment, mostly for the persistent headaches
I´ve suffered for over a year and I´m feeling a lot more
optimistic. The headaches haven´t gone completely but at least
they´re not as frequent as they were and I´m not constantly
reaching for painkillers.
Getting started on a new project wasn´t
really a conscious decision. As you may have noticed, I´ve restored
several old photos over the past year. I thought it was about time
that I gave them a suitable setting and that´s really what started
me off again.
You may remember this photo of my
grandmother and my aunt. It´s a particular favourite of mine and I
thought it deserved a layout all its own so instead of using an
existing kit I started to design something around it.
In a way it´s strange that I´ve gone
back to shades of brown again. You probably know I really don´t like
brown, mostly because it´s a colour I absolutely can´t wear, but I do like teal a lot and I can´t think of any other colour
which brings out the beauty of my favourite colour better than brown.

I love it!! Of course, I like browns and you're right... teals are gorgeous with brown. Paired with the elements that are brown but with red tones makes the whole layout really beautiful. Excellent job. I'm so glad you're starting to feel better with more hope. :o)

ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you feeling well enough to start working on a new kit. I, too, love teal and it goes so well with the browns. Actually, my furniture in the den is a golden tan, dark and medium browns, touches of peach or terracotta, and of all things navy denim touches. Love it and not happy as Tony is thinking it needs to be replaced.

The large frame reminds me of one my mother-in-law once had and the bird is very similar to a wall feature that I came across in the past few days that was hers and I was going to send to Good Will. Now, I'm thinking I change the colors from gold and yellow to teal with soft touches of gold and hang it in the den. And Tony thought I was finally thinning out some of "stuff" we've had stored for over 16 years...lol!
So good to see you "around" again! I love teal, and have been steadily plopping it throughout the house, little touches at the time.... I like it with a very pale lilac, and rusty/orangy colors..... Just in case you want to give in to your "not liking browns", but I have to say, you use browns very well. LOL
